A message from Mary McManus
My journey is not unique and physicians are now acknowledging self induced healing. While I am so deeply grateful for the manifestation and joy of the physical healing that has happened - that was not my initial goal. I needed to heal my spirit and my life. The collection of poetry, "New World Greetings: Inspirational Poetry and Musings for a New World" reflects my healing journey and the awakening of my soul. It is a joy to share this gift with other polio survivors and I donate 20% of the proceeds of the sale of my book to Spaulding Rehab's International Rehab Center for Polio for research, education and to help pay for the care of the uninsured and underinsured polio patients seeking care and treatment at Spaulding.

In December 2006, I was diagnosed with post-polio syndrome. Prior to the diagnosis, I felt depressed, anxious and angry and felt my life spinning out of control. Through journaling, prayer and meditation, and finding spiritual teachers (such as Dr. Bernie Siegel, Lisa Nichols, Michael Bernard Beckwith, Tony Robbins and Wayne Dyer) and going through intensive outpatient rehab at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Framingham (Boston area), I entered a phase of acceptance and stillness. In February 2007, the urge to create blossomed into the gift of poetry. As the gift continued to blossom, I realized I was writing a book. I prepared to leave my full time job and to begin a new chapter in my life. I was blessed with support from a loving family and sought out loving, supportive friends, and I left my full time job in May of 2007. This past year has been a miraculous healing journey.
